In 2011, I came back to the exciting ‘hot shop’ after 30 years. It is always like a dance with silica shapes, color and fire. It's so thrilling to work quickly with hot, molten glass until it becomes an expressive, light-catching solid in motion, frozen in time.
Working with Paul Swartwood at Glen Echo Glassworks, I made miniature glass dancing dresses - or ball gowns. With these, I hoped to capture a sense of motion, fluidity and shifting rhythms of shapes. Working now in dance, clay and watercolor, these elements are still at the heart of my creative journey.
